Sporting CP coach Jorge Jesus is reportedly keen on bringing Bruno Alves back to Portugal to lead his new team’s defence.
Jesus, who left Benfica at the end of the 2014/15 season to take up the head coach role at Sporting and will be bringing the club to the Cape Town Cup in July, sees the experienced Alves as the perfect recruit.
The 33-year-old, who has played for the likes of Porto, AEK Athens and Zenit St Petersburg, is currently on the books of Turkish club Fenerbahce.
He has one year remaining on his contract in Istanbul, and Jesus is hoping that he will be able to lure the 1.89 metre-tall centre-back to the Estadio Jose Alvalade ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Alves has also represented Portugal over 70 times and was part of their squads for two European Championships and two World Cups.
