Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur is set to sign a new long-term contract with the club, according to Goal.

Cape Town Cup participants Palace opened talks with the Scotland midfielder earlier this month amid interest from Everton and Norwich City.

McArthur is Palace's record signing after they paid Wigan £7 million for his services last year. However, he has just two years remaining on his current contract, as he only signed a three-year deal.

Palace have been impressed with his performances throughout the 2014/15 season as he became one of the standout performers under Alan Pardew.

The Eagles boss has made it clear to the club's hierarchy that he wants McArthur tied down and he is set to get his wish, with a deal understood to be close.
