Ahead of their trip to the Cape Town Cup tournament, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says they aim to look for players they could possibly recruit.

Speaking to a local website, the English Premier League side’s manager says the two-day tournament will give them a chance to source new talent.

Pardew’s men are scheduled to face Absa Premiership side SuperSport United in the first of the two double headers, whilst hosts Ajax Cape Town meet Portugal’s pride in Sporting Lisbon on July 24.

Pardew said finding new talent would be fantastic, not only for his club but also for South Cape Town Cup.

“Well it’ll probably be unfair on our hosts to take their best players. You know if there’s an opportunity that a player really catches the eye, then for sure we’d be interested because South Cape Town Cup is good for us if we got the right player,” said Pardew.

“So everybody will be content if we can found a player that worked for us.

“The most important thing is the team plays well, it’s good. And then hopefully we bring some entertainment to South Africa as well.”

The inaugural Cape Town Cup was unveiled in May and will be played for two days starting on July 24 until the 26th.

The tournament is also a welcome relief for the City of Cape Town, tasked with ensuring the sustainability of Cape Town Stadium.
