This weekend’s Cape Town Cup provides a perfect platform for South Africa’s young talent to show their ability, according to Ajax Cape Town and Bafana Bafana defender Rivaldo Coetzee.
Cape Town Stadium will host the tournament set to kick off this Friday night.
SuperSport United face Crystal Palace followed by Ajax Cape Town vs Sporting.
Coetzee said: “I am looking forward to the Cape Town Cup challenge because it is always good to play teams of this calibre.
“It is good for the young players at our club too, because international scouts could see us here and this could help some of us get a move abroad.
“This weekend and the games we will play really is a big platform for us.”
Coetzee has muscled his way into Shakes Mashaba's Bafana Bafana squad and despite still being a teenager, has made the centre back role his own.
Several seasons ago, a young Orlando Pirates defender named Mbuleleo Mbizela impressed Tottenham Hotspur during a similar pre-season event in South Africa.
Mabizela won a contract at Spurs and despite showing early signs of promise in London, he was not able to cement his place in England and returned to South Africa.
