Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa says he’s looking forward to the match against one of his father's ex-teams, Sporting Clube de Portugal.
The Urban Warriors mentor was speaking ahead of the highly anticipated inaugural Cape Town Cup second semi-final clash against the Portuguese giants on Friday night.
The ex-Bafana Bafana goalkeeper also shared his sentiments about facing a team that his father, Octavio De Sa, once played for. Whatsmore, Sporting's current coach, Jorge Jesus' dad also played for the club.
“Both our fathers played for Sporting Lisbon and we had a chuckle and a giggle about it, and here we are now coaching against each other now,” said De Sa.
“It’s amazing how it goes around and he’s a fantastic manager, there was a massive controversial issue when he left Benfica for Lisbon because it’s a big rivalry – I think he will do well for the club.
“Lisbon is trying to build up now and they have a fantastic academy; Cristiano Ronaldo is their biggest product and many others so we’re looking forward to it."
The first semifinal sees Tshwane giants SuperSport United facing off against English Premier League side, Crystal Palace at 17:45.
Then hosts Ajax will lock horns against Lisbon at 20h15 with the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue, Cape Town Stadium, staging the tournament.
