In Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa's view, his young Urban Warriors matched Sporting Clube de Portugal despite losing in a penalty shootout.

Ajax lost 4-2 in the shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw in the second semifinal of the Cape Town Cup. Earlier in the evening Crystal Palace beat SuperSport United 4-0.

"I am obviously disappointed in the end when you go 2-1 up and let it slip in the end, to concede from a set piece like we did," De Sa says.

"It was a high pace game, they (Sporting) are very organised and a very good team. Hopefully we will improve on a few areas and we will get better.

"We have a few guys that we are looking to bring into the team. We are looking at a big centre back and a winger to still complete our team."

Asked whether he was disappointed not to get a chance to face Palace on Sunday, De Sa said: "Ideally you want to play teams you do not get a chance to play often, like Crystal Palace.

"So I am slightly disappointed there. But on Sunday we will go out and give it a full go against SuperSport United."

Ajax scored during open play through Cecil Lolo (penalty) and Franklin Cale.
