Sporting Clube de Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patrício thanked the South African people for their hospitality in the aftermath of his side's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Cape Town Cup final on Sunday.
Fredy Montero netted a second-half brace for the Portuguese outfit who return home with the silverware.
"It was an honour to stay here, the way that we were welcomed into the country this week was really great, it is a great pleasure and I just want to thank in the name of the whole team for the way we were welcomed into this beautiful city," Patricio said with the help of an interpreter.
The Portugal international added that the club will continue to work hard as they eye a positive result in their season opener against fierce rivals Benfica.
"What we are going to do is work hard on every aspect of the game, work together and try and achieve the best results possible - with the Super Cup also around the corner," Patricio added.
Sporting face head coach Jorge Jesus former club in the Portuguese Super Cup in two weeks time.
